PDE Traffic Observer Validated on Freeway Data

چکیده

This article develops a boundary observer for the estimation of congested freeway traffic states based on Aw-Rascle-Zhang (ARZ) partial differential equations (PDEs) model. Traffic state refers to acquisition information from partially observed data. problem is relevant due its limited accessibility real-time information. We propose model-driven approach in which aggregated segment obtained simply measurement flow and velocity without knowledge initial states. The macroscopic dynamics represented by ARZ model, 2 ×2 coupled nonlinear hyperbolic PDEs density velocity. Using PDE backstepping method, we construct consisting copy plant with output injections errors. exponential stability error system L 2 norm finite-time convergence zero guaranteed. Numerical simulation data validation are conducted validate design vehicle trajectory

Modeling of Freeway Traffic

An integrated modeling of freeway traffic is developed, whose implementation in an uniform computer–aided simulation model facilitate comparative evaluation and systematic coupling of several traffic simulations, traffic controls, traffic measurements and traffic scenarios. The integrated modeling of freeway traffic is a basic mapping of freeway networks, control methods, measurements and diffe...

Traffic Flow on a Freeway Network

Traffic congestion is an unpleasant fact of modern life. Although difficult to quantify precisely, congestion must cost Californians millions of dollars per day. Since further extensive construction of freeways is unlikely, information technology is being increasingly looked to for amelioration by providing information allowing more efficient use of existing freeways. Statistics plays a major r...

On the Stability of Freeway Traffic

Traffic flow theory is used to analyze the spatio-temporal distribution of flow and density on closedloop homogeneous freeways with many ramps, which produce inflows and allow outflows. It is shown that if the on-ramp demand is space-independent then this distribution tends toward uniformity in space if the freeway is either: (i) uncongested; or (ii) congested with queues on its on-ramps and en...

Imputation of Ramp Flow Data for Freeway Traffic Simulation

The Tools for Operations Planning (TOPL) employs the Link-Node Cell Transmission model for macroscopic freeway traffic simulations for specifying operational strategies like ramp metering, demand and incident management.Traffic flow and occupancy data from loop detectors is used for calibrating these models and specifying the inputs to the simulation. However, flow data from ramps are often to ...

Decentralized State-Observer-Based Traffic Density Estimation of Large-Scale Urban Freeway Network by Dynamic Model

In order to estimate traffic densities in a large-scale urban freeway network in an accurate and timely fashion when traffic sensors do not cover the freeway network completely and thus only local measurement data can be utilized, this paper proposes a decentralized state observer approach based on a macroscopic traffic flow model. Firstly, by using the well-known cell transmission model (CTM),...
